Merman Aquatics was started by Nathan in 2020 to provide nano fish, freshwater shrimp, aquarium plants, koi, and pond plants. Because of the rapid growth in koi sales, American Koi was spun off from Merman Aquatics in 2021 to provide a dedicated pond supply business. In 2022, we began to offer imported koi from Japan along with shubunkins, wakin goldfish, and an extended line of pond plants and pond supplies. 

Jonathan joined the team in 2024. Together we have over 38 years experience in the aquarium hobby and over 34 combined years experience with koi and ponds. This includes many years working at a fully functioning koi farm. 

Together, the decision was made to develop the business further. Flowing Oasis was founded in April of 2024 with the goal of bringing Merman Aquatics, American Koi, and a nursery together under one name. This was to allow for online sales, increase customer reach, and provide the best service and products to our existing and future customers for years to come. Under the new name, Merman Aquatics was revamped to offer high quality freshwater aquarium fish and plants
